For Physicians: Resources for Your Patients

If you are an oncologist or oncology health professional looking to help your patients understand the breaking news from the 2011 ASCO Annual Meeting, please know that ASCO is here to help you.

The simplest step is to send your patients to Cancer.Net (www.cancer.net), ASCO's patient information website.  This 24/7 online resource will be updated constantly throughout the meeting with detailed research highlights written in patient-friendly language, searchable by disease type. And, you can feel confident that the information your patients find on Cancer.Net has been vetted by oncologists. Meeting-related information will include a special Cancer Advances newsletter, patient education videos, and audio podcasts from leading experts.

In addition to breaking news, Cancer.Net is also home to information on more than 120 types of cancer and cancer-related syndromes, clinical trials, managing side effects, caregiving, survivorship, and much more. It also contains comprehensive information about how to cope with the emotional and social effects of living with cancer, whether the reader is the person with cancer, a caregiver, family member, or friend. Content is written in easy-to-understand language and vetted by the Cancer.Net Editorial Board.

Well-informed patients are their own best advocates and invaluable partners for physicians. ASCO offers a comprehensive patient information program so that oncologists can feel confident that they are offering their patients the best possible educational resources.
